Spring and Summer 2014 Nail Polish Trends!

Spring is here and summer is just right around the corner, which means that new nail polish trends are here to greet us! Spring and summer are the perfect times to start pulling out those brighter nail polish colors and to explore and have fun with new colors! There are many nail polish trends this spring and summer that are probably not much of a surprise. Chances are you may have similar colors already in your collection! This post will include some of the latest and most wearable nail polish color trends that I have been loving! Read on to see some of my favorite spring and summer 2014 nail polish trends!

Bright nail polish is always a staple during the spring and summer! Every year, however, there are a few bright colors that seem to take charge and this year the colors are coral and orange! Turquoise and aqua blues also seem to be "in" during the upcoming warmer months!
Butter London Nail Polish in "Silly Billy", $15.
OPI Nail Lacquer in "Toucan Do It If You Try", $9.
Essie Nail Polish in "Cab-ana", $8.50.
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in "Coral Reef", $3

Pastels are also another color trend that seems to be popular every spring and summer! This is probably my favorite of all the trends because pastels are so versatile and delicate while being a great way to add a little pop of color to your spring and summer style!
Essie Nail Polish in "Fiji", $8.50.
Deborah Lippmann Nail Color in "Spring Buds", $18.
Essie Nail Polish in "Borrowed and Blue", $8.50.
Sally Hanson Complete Salon Manicure in "I Lilac You", $8

Going off of the pastel trend, mint is subtle yet classic color that suits all skin tones. It's been "in" for the past few years and I'm excited that it's not dying out just yet! More brands are also releasing mint shades in their collections, so you are bound to find a mint nail polish that suits you!
Essie Nail Polish in "Mint Candy Apple", $8.50.
Deborah Lippmann Nail Color in "Flowers in My Hair", $18
NCLA Nail Polish in "Santa Monica Shore Thing", $16
Ciate Creme Paint Pots in "Pepperminty", $16

Usually I wouldn't associate metallic with spring, but shades like rose gold or bronze having been appearing in many upcoming collections. It's a nice twist from the usual brighter nail polish colors and looks gorgeous against the sunlight!
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in "Guilty Party", $8
MAC Nail Lacquer in "Soiree", $16
Deborah Lippmann Nail Color in "Glamorous Life", $18
Essie Nail Polish "Penny Talk", $8.50.

High End Sandal Wedges for Less! (Feat. Target)

Summer is just around the corner and one fashion piece that has been catching my eye is wedges. Being below the average height for a girl, I think that wedges are a great way to had height while also have that sweet girl-next-door look. Wedges, however, can run pretty pricey, especially during the peak of spring and summer clothing shopping! If you want a really well-made shoe, maybe opt for splurging extra on a nicer pair of wedges. However, if you want something trendy for just the spring and summer, try looking for some more affordable options! Read on to see some of the wedges that I found at Target that are close dupes to ones found at department stores!

The Target wedge sandals and the DV by Dolce Vita 'Jaslyn' Wedges are two-toned wedges look nearly identical with the cork wedge, detailed border, and are about the same height! The only differences are that the Target brand doesn't have have the detailed border at the bottom of the heel, the white leather straps are a little different, and the tan leather straps are slightly different in color. These, however, are minor differences, and for the price difference, the Target wedges are definitely a steal!

The Target cork wedges and the Lucky Brand 'Miller 2' Wedges are both very similar and if you don't look super closely, they look almost identical! Both wedges have thick a cork wedge and criss-cross canvas straps. They also have similar stud detailing. The two only differences are that the Lucky Brand's front strap wraps around the the side of the wedge and its straps are a little more matte. However, for an almost $55 price difference, those are two very minor differences.

These Target wedges and the DV and Dolce by Vita 'Tabby' Wedges both feature a high cork wedge, gold detailing, and nudge straps. The major differences between these wedges is that the DV by Dolce Vita wedges have two gold metal embellishments on the vertical strap, while the Target wedges have only one gold embellishment. The DV by Dolce Vita's straps also wrap around the ankle one more time than the Target wedges. The Target wedges, however, are still an excellent dupe for the more pricey DV by Dolce Vita wedges!

These two wedges probably have the most differences than the other pairs shown above. The Target wedges and the Steve Madden 'Indyanna' Wedges, however, do have many similarities. Both wedges have a solid neutral wedge and many black straps. They also both strap around the ankle! Although the Steve Madden wedges have gold detailing and its straps are less concentrated, the Target wedges are a good dupe if you want to save $50!

My Beauty Wishlist #3 | Face Products

  • Clinique Cheek Pop in "Ginger Pop": This blush is part of one of the newest product lines recently released by Clinique. I heard that these blushes are super creamy and very pigmented, making them easy to use. Plus the shades in the line are for spring and summer!
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer: Benefit Hoola Bronzer is supposed to be one of the best bronzers for contouring, being neither too orange or too muddy. I have been on the hunt to find that perfect bronzer, so this is definitely on my wishlist!
  • Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer: I tried this foundation when I was getting my makeup done at the Bobbi Brown counter for prom and since then it has been on the top of my wishlist! I loved how this foundation felt and the natural finish it left on my face!
  • Sonia Kashuk Undetectable Cream Bronzer in "Rich Bronze": I don't own a cream bronzer, and I heard that this one is not only good for contouring, but is also more on the affordable side. This bronzer seems like it would be perfect for contouring, since cream products tend to look more natural than powder products.
  • Dior Shimmer Powder in "Amber Diamond": I have heard so much about this product and that it is the perfect highlighting powder for both the face and as eyeshadow. Unfortunately, however, I have heard that this may be discontinued, which would be a bummer considering the popularity of this product.

All of these products are perfect for the spring and summer, whether it's to bronze up or brighten your makeup look!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

I Got to Meet SprinkleofGlitter!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to be in the same city as Louis or also known on Youtube as SprinkleofGlitter! Louis happened to be in Seattle this past weekend and I happen to go to college in Seattle, so I got really lucky! She held a casual meetup at a park near downtown Seattle and there wasn't too many people there (around 30-50... I'm bad at estimating), so it wasn't busy or crowded (like the Macbarbie07 meetup)! It was also a beautiful sunny day, so she luckily missed the Seattle rain!

I wasn't planning on going, but the main reason why I went was because my sister loves Louis's Youtube channel, so I wanted Louis to sign a paper with her photo on it that I brought. But I'm so glad I went! Louis was so funny and nice just like in her videos! She told some pretty funny stories, which were fun to hear! Her outfit was also so adorable and she looked so pretty! Her daughter wasn't there though, but I understand considering Louis was going to be busy with the get together.

Overall it was pretty awesome meeting SprinkleofGlitter and I still can't believe how lucky I got considering she lives in England!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Get the Look: Lauren Conrad Spring Makeup Look! (Feat. A Pop of Color!)

Lauren Conrad always has simplest yet prettiest makeup looks, usually sporting the simple cat eye look. This look is a really pretty look that is inspired by one of her carpet looks. This look can be worn everyday or a simple look at night, with a winged liner and bright lipstick. Read on to see my take on her simple, bright look!

Face:

  • BB CreamLauren Conrad doesn't seem to wearing heavy foundation, so start off with a BB Cream.
  • Bronzer: To get her bronzed skin, apply a bronzer lightly all over your face, focusing on areas that would be contoured, such as the hollows of your cheeks, cheeks, and temples.
  • Light Coral-Pink Cream Blush: For a light flush of color, apply the blush lightly on the apples of your cheeks.
  • Champagne HighlighterTo finish off the face look, apply a highlighter to the tops of your cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose to get her radiant glow!

Eyes:

Lips:
  • Fuchsia-Pink Lip ColorFor the pop of color of her look, apply a fuchsia-pink lip color. Revlon's Lip Butter in "Lollipop" is almost an exact match!

Get the Style: Miranda Kerr's Work Inspired Street Style!

This post is inspired by Miranda Kerr and her effortless style! Aside from being a (gorgeous) model, Miranda Kerr is a successful business women and is often seen in business attire. Miranda's professional look is chic and stylish, while still being simple and sophisticated! I love her looks that include a chic blazer and heels and I think that it is perfect for a casual work outfit. Although in some of the photos Miranda Kerr is wearing jeans, you can swap the jeans with a pair of black skinny slacks. You can also keep the jeans for just a classic day-out outfit! Read on to see my take on her work style!

Outfit #1:
Top, Heels, Blazer, Bag, Jeans
This outfit is perfect for both a casual work outfit as well as an outfit to wear out with your friends or around downtown! A beige blouse or tank and white blazer is the perfect combination for spring. Next, pair a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, but for a more professional look, wear a pair of fitting black slacks. For accessories, finish the outfit with a pair of black patent leather pointy-toe heels and a small black crossbody bag.

Outfit #2:
Pink Blouse, Wedges, Pants, Patterned Blouse, Heels, Tote, Sunglasses
This is the perfect spring to summer outfit for both work or a day out! For Miranda Kerr's pop of color in her outfit, wear a bright red blouse, but if you prefer the patterned detailing of her top, wear a geo printed blouse. For pants, Miranda was wearing a pair of white high-wisted wide leg pants, whih is perfect for spring! As for shoes, for work, go for a pair of cognac heels, but for a day out, go for a pair of cognac wedges. Finish the look with a pair of cat-eye tortoiseshell sunglasses and a black tote bag!

Outfit #3:
Blazer, Heels, Blouse, Bag, Jeggings, Sunglasses
This is a classic causal/professional Miranda Kerr outfit! A tan button-down blouse and black blazer is a classic and chic combination! Pair this with dark-wash jeggings, but for a more professional look, go for a pair of black fitting slacks. For shoes, wear a pair of black patent-leather heels and for accessories, pair a black satchel and tortoiseshell cat-eye sunglasses with the outfit.

Disney's "Frozen" Elsa Makeup Tutorial!

In my last post I mentioned that I had recently watched Frozen for the first time and was inspired to do some makeup looks inspired by some of the main characters. My last post was an Anna tutorial (here), and this post is going to be a look inspired Elsa! Her character definitely won me over when she sang "Let It Go", including when she let her hair loose and rocked a gorgeous dress! I'm now listening to the Frozen soundtrack, so I'm really feeling in the Frozen spirit! Read on to see my take on her look!

Face:
  • BB Cream or Light Foundation: Apply to even out your skin tone using a lighter foundation for a lighter look.
  • Light Rosy Pink Blush: Apply to the apples of your cheeks, blending them to the sides of you face to your temples. (The one shown is the Maybelline Fit Me Blush in "Light Rose")
  • Light Highlighter: Apply a little to the tops of your cheekbones and blend.

Eyes:
  • Shimmery Fuchsia-Plum Eyeshadow: Apply all over the lid to the crease, making sure your don't go past the crease. (The one shown is the NYX Baked Eyeshadow in "Love Junkie", but L'Oreal's Infallible Eyeshadow in "Burst Into Bloom" is also perfect!)
  • Matte Raspberry Eyeshadow: Using a crease brush, apply the shadow into your crease, blending it a little into the purple eyeshadow. After, use a fluffy brush to blend any harsh lines. (The one shown is Sephora's Eyeshadow in "Berry Crush")
  • Beige Eyeshadow: Apply to the brow bone and use it to blend the raspberry eyeshadow to help further soften the edges. Apply a little to the inner corner. (The one shown is L'Oreal's Infallible Eyeshadow in "Endless Pearl")

  • Black Pencil Eyeliner: Apply a medium sized line to your upper lash line, making the line a little thicker in the outer corner. Next, use a smudging brush to smudge out the eyeliner just a little. Apply a little of the eyeliner cleanly and lightly to your waterline.
  • Black Mascara: Apply several coats to the top lashes to get her large lashes. Apply one coat to your bottom lashes.
  • Tinted Eyebrow Gel: To shape the brows, apply a tinted eyebrow gel.
