Jelly Sandals: In or Out?

For some, jelly sandals bring nostalgia of the 90's, while for others, it a resurfacing trend that they may be considering to trying out for the first time. Jelly sandals are essentially exactly how the name describes them. The shoe is usually made out of plastic, with a jelly platform or base. These sandals are also flexible and since they are made out of plastic, they come in a variety of colors.

When I first heard about the jelly sandal trend, I was immediately turned off by the trend, since many of the jelly shoes were caged sandals (such as here). However, when brands started introducing jelly sandals that were simple and looked similar to a typical sandal, the trend started growing on me. While I don't think that I'll be purchasing jelly sandals any time soon, these sandals seem much more comfortable that a typical leather sandal. Jelly sandals are also a great for adding a pop of color and the perfect way to have fun with your outfit.

A growing trend that screams spring and summer and is appearing in stores left and right is the off-the-shoulders trend. Off the shoulder tops and dresses is a chic trend that is a strapless top with sleeves around the arms while showing off the shoulders and collarbone area. If you are over the crop top trend, this is a great alternative if you still want to show a little bit of skin during the warmers months.

The off the shoulder trend is perfect for transforming your outfit from day to night. An off the shoulder top can add a flirty twist to a causal outfits, such as when paired with jeans and sandals. An off the shoulder dress is perfect for showing a little skin during a night out when dressed up with a pair of wedges or heels. Off the shoulder pieces are also often flowy, which helps add a laid-back feel to any look!

High-End Sandals For Less!

Since it is now spring with summer just right around the corner, it is officially (or almost officially, depending on where you live) sandal season. Sandals are more airy and are typically less restricting than boots. While there is a sandal for almost every occasion, sometimes the price for some sandals are over your budget. If you want a trendy shoe without a crying wallet, continue reading to see five high-end sandals for less!

Forever 21 Strappy Wedges | Jessica Simpson 'Jadyn' Wedges

A staple in every sandal-lover's closet is similar pair of brown strappy wedges. These Forever 21 Strappy Wedges are an almost exact dupe for the Jessica Simpson 'Jadyn' Wedges. Both shoes have a solid colored wedge with simple crisscrossing straps, making it versatile shoe that would transition perfectly from day to night. The only two main, and minor, differences between the two wedges is that the Forever 21 wedges have a small buckle on one of the straps and are also a little bit taller.

Target Sandals | Steve Maddel 'Agathist' Sandals

Metallic flat sandals are perfect if you want a shoe that can be easily dressed down or dressed up without the added height. The Target Sandals are a close dupe to the Steve Madden "Agathist" Sandals, with both sandals feature a gold metallic crisscross straps and a unique toe (or separating) strap. While they are both very similar, there are a few differences between the two shoes. One difference is that the color of the straps of the two shoes are slightly different as well as the buckle placement. These, however, are minor differences considering the Target sandals are a third of the price compared to the Steve Madden sandals.

Target Wedges | Steve Madden Wedges

If you are looking for a more casual, beach-inspired wedge, the Target Sandels are a very close alternative to the Steve Madden 'Seaside' Wedges. Both wedges feature a espadrille style with a braided jute detailing on the wedge. The two wedges also have one strap across the front of the shoe and another strap wrapping around the ankle. As you can notice in the photos above, there are a few differences. One difference is that the straps on the Steve Madden wedges are patent leather, while the straps on the Target wedges are a matte faux-leather material. Another minor difference is that the Target wedges have extra gold detailing around the ankle strap.

If you are looking for a pair of sandals that are on the more trendy side, these Target Sandals are an almost an exact dupe for the Steve Madden 'Gomly' Sandal. Both shoes have a snake-print pattern on the straps and both feature a similar unique strap shape. The only minor differences between the shoes is that they are both slightly different in color. It is also important to note that typically with more pricey sandals, you are also paying for quality.

Forever 21 | Steve Madden

This last sandals comparison is between the Forever 21 Sandals and the Steve Madden 'Evict' Sandals. The Forever 21 and Steve Madden sandals are both all-black with similar thick, minimal straps. The only differences between the sandals is that the Forever 21 sandal has a slightly higher heel and has a wider buckle in a different placement. Those differences, however, are small considering the Forever 21 sandals are over half the price of the Steve Madden sandals.

Beauty Wish List: Drugstore Makeup for Spring

Do you ever have those weeks where you feel inspired (more than usual) to revamp your makeup collection? Maybe it's just me, but those weeks definitely come and sometimes go. This week I was feeling inspired to add more color to my makeup look as well as add a little more coverage, since I have been having some skin problems recently. 

The Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream, Milani Baked Blush in "Luminoso", and NYX Butter Gloss in "Maple Blondie" were actually on my wish list last year, which may show that I have a hard time going through and spending money on makeup. A newer product on the list include the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Powder, which has some good reviews since its recent release. The last product on my wishlist is the Revlon HD Lipstick in "HD Orchid". I actually started to gravitate to this color when I saw Brit from 'The Bachelor' wearing a similar color on the show. I am really inspired to add some color to my look during the warmer months, so this lipstick seems to be perfect.

Nothing screams spring like floral. Every year, flroals are a reoccurring trend for the spring, and can sometime feel repetitive, however, there are ways to wear floral that are fresh and modern. One huge trend that I have been noticing are larger floral prints. Larger floral prints are not only fresh, but are often times colorful and have a more spring-feel than the smaller, less detailed floral prints.

Florals are also the perfect option for not only causal outings, but for more formal occasions. Floral tops paired with a pair of jeans or a floral skirt paired with a solid colored top are fun ways to add print to your outfit during the day. At night, a simple floral dress with a pair of nude wedges is the perfect if you want some color in your look. Whether you wear floral during the day or night, the print is a great way add life to any outfit.

(On a final note: Every time I see floral prints during the spring I can't help but think of The Devil Wears Prada...)

Get the Style: Gigi Hadid Street Style

I must first confess. The first time that I saw Gigi Hadid was on The Real Housewives, where she was working her way towards being a model. Even though watching several episodes of the RHOBH was not one my finest moments, you could tell from watching the show that Gigi was going to be big in the modeling world. Gigi is also becoming big in the fashion world, including her chic street style. The key to Gigi's street style is to start off with the basics. Once you have the basics, you then have a base where you can add more trendier pieces for more detail. Continue reading to see the three outfits inspired by Gigi!

Outfit 1

Top / Jacket / Jeans / Sunglasses / Bag / Shoes

If you're looking for a spring outfit that doesn't include floral or bright colors, this first outfit is perfect for you! First wear a black tee with a pair of relaxed distressed jeans, cuffing the bottom of the jeans. For a pop of color, add a patterned blue sweater or jacket (if you want to pay $639 for the exact jacket she was wearing, I actually came across it here). For accessories, go for a black satchel and a pair of white sneakers. Lastly, don't forget to add a pair of round sunglasses!

Outfit 2

Tee / Leggings / Sandals / Bag / Sunglasses

This next look is the most relaxed and casual of the three inspired outfits. Start the look by wearing a loose white tee. If you want a similar look to Gigi, add a colorful bralette underneath the tee. For a little bit of edge, add a pair of black faux leather leggings. Complement the black leggings with a pair of gold and black sandals. Finish the look with a black crossbody bag and a pair of aviator sunglasses.

Outfit 3

Tee / Jacket / Jeans / Sunglasses / Bag / Boots

This last outfit is perfect for those who want to look put-together and stylish while still being comfortable. Start off by pairing together a blue baseball tee with a pair of distressed skinny jeans. Next, add a black bomber-style jacket to help pull the look together. Add a pair of cat-eye style sunglasses with a brown crossbody bag (the exact on Gigi was wearing). Finish the look with a pair of black booties.

White Jeans: Dangerous but chic. White is always the perfect way to refresh your spring and summer wardrobe, however, white jeans seem to have the tendency to scare some people, including myself. I used to never consider buying a pair of white pants, because I would assume that within a few hours, it would look not-so-white. However, if you are careful, I think that white jeans are the perfect way to brighten any outfit. Since it is neutral, it will also go with everything, including all patterns and colors.

If you're unsure on how to wear white jeans, an easy way to pull them off is by pairing them with a colorful top or bright accessories. This helps keep the focus on the top or accessory and there is no need to worry about clashing. White jeans also work great with a pair of nude wedges, since the wedges help keep the look light and fresh.
