Spring Beauty Trend 2012: Nude Lips

I'm so sorry I have been lacking posts lately. Just been very busy with school. But no time for excuses!

Nude Lips: This trend has been going on for a while, but I feel like it's really kicking in this spring. The thing that I love about this trend is that it is very wearable, and looks good, whether you're going to work, school, or even for the night.
Not only are nude lips in, but this spring seems to be all about looking natural (I may do a post about this later).
Nude lips can be either have a pink, beige, or tan base
They are also a good transition "piece" from winter to spring.
Here are some products that I think fit the trend nicely:

Mac's "Creme D'Nude"
A nude with the slightest hint of pink

Revlon's "Soft Nude"
A lot like Mac's creme d'nude, but a little bit more on the nude side.

Revlon Lip Butter in "Creme Brulee"
A pretty nude color. More on the beige-y side rather than pink.

As for lipgloss, try a nice nude lipgloss to put over of the lipstick, such as Mac's "C-Thru". It's a pretty nude lipgloss. Prefect over any nude lipstick.

High Low Hem Skirt: In or Out

High-low hem skirts are seen in magazines and runways. Here are some high-low hem skirts and outfits.
I can't say that I'm a huge fan of the trend on myself, but I think it would look good on an average height or tall person.

Outfit 1: Try a High Low Hem Skirt that reaches the floor on the back. It will give you a different look than if you were just wear a maxi-skirt.
Nordstrom BP
Pair this with a 3/4 length flowy top that's more neutral, such as white or tan.
Pair with some brown high heel sandals.

Outfit 2: Try one that's above the knees in the front, but long in the back.
Urban Outfitters
Tuck a flowy white or neutral color short sleeve top.
Pair with a pair of brown colored (flat) sandals.

Hope you enjoyed!

Pink Hearts and Chocolate: A Valentine's Day Makeup Tutorial!

This look is just inspired by Valentine's Day (of course!).

Eyes:
Prime you eyes to make the eyeshadow last all day!

All over the lid: Apply a light pink eyeshadow all over the lid. This will add a soft look to the eye look.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Eyeshadow in "Matte Flesh Pink"

Outer Corner: In the outer third of the lid, place a medium/dark mauve pink. This will add more to the pink look.

Crease: In the outer third of the crease and a little bit in the outer corner, add a chocolate brown color. This will add dimension to your look. Having it all pink look can be too much, so this softens the look more.
Sephora Collection Eyeshadow in "Cocoa Powder"

Eyeliner: For a soft look, add a dark brown liner. This won't be too harsh, but will still make you look like you have full lashes.
Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner in "black brown"

Curl/Mascara: Curl your lashes for more volume and add black mascara for that false yet natural eyelash look.

Cheeks:
Apply a nice light pink blush on the apples of your cheeks. Since there is already pink on the lid, keep the pink on the cheek toned down a little.

MAC "Dame" blush

Lips:
Apply a soft pink lip stick or lip stain. Bright pinks will be a little too much.
MAC "Angel" Lipstick

Bold lips: In or Out?

Recently, I have been seeing a lot of bold lips in magazines and on Youtube. When I mean bold lip, I mean very dark red lipstick, like some of these:

I personally wouldn't go for the dark lip, but I feel like someone people could pull it off, depending on how dark the lipstick is. I also feel like people can pull this off before the spring/summer time.
If you do want to pull off this trend, be sure to:
  • Apply a lip liner before, so the lipstick lasts longer.
  • Don't go outside the lines!
  • Stick to the glossy lipstick, rather than matte and/or lipgloss. It can be a little too much.
  • Keep the face natural, but bold lashes.

If you do want to go for that dark lip, here are some lipsticks:

This MAC lipstick in "Hang Up" is sheer, so it is light, but buildable. Many dark lipsticks are like this, which is good, because you can build it up until you have the shade you want.

A nice deep red (MAC's "Diva" lipstick). Would look good on someone with fair-medium skin if applied lightly.

This is another sheer and buildable lipstick. Comes out more red then it looks, and I feel like it would work on all skintones. (Revlon Lipbutter in "Red Velvet")

I hope this was helpful! Please comment and tell me what you think about dark bold lips!
