Rimmel GlamEyes Professional Liquid Eyeliner: Review + Swatches!

I was given the Rimmel GlamEyes Professional Liquid Eyeliner from my mom after she used it one time and decided she wasn't a fan of liquid eyeliner. Since this liner did not convince my mom to join the liquid liner band wagon, I wasn't sure it would convince me to join. I had never tried liquid eyeliner before, since I was satisfied with my gel and pencil eyeliners, but I decided to give this eyeliner a try.

Packaging and Brush

I was somewhat impressed by the brush and the formula considering the reasonable price for the product. The packaging is very compact and takes up minimal space. As for the applicator, the brush is long, but I found that I had some control of the brush, allowing for me to make smooth lines. The brush is also fairly thin and has a very pointed tip, making it easy to create thin lines and wings. Thicker lines could also be made by pressing a little harder when applying the liner.

Application

Although it wasn't very difficult creating thin and thick lines, it did involve a lot of concentration and patience. It may be hard to control the thickness of line, since the brush is sensitive to how hard you press the eyeliner, causing the line to not be the desired width. I found myself going through quite a lot of q-tips with this liner, since it is sometimes easy to mess up the line.

Formulation

As for the formulation, the liner was smooth and went on shiny, but dries matte. The longer the liner stays on the lids, the resistant the liner was to smudging. This liner, however, is not by all means waterproof! It may be water resistant, such as with rain, but I would not recommend wearing this liner to the beach or the pool.

Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara Review!

Eyebrow game. Bold, close to perfect brows has been a growing trend for several years and to completely honest, I never joined the brow band-wagon. Don't get me wrong, I'm impressed with girls who are able to have on-point brows. I just don't personally seem to want to put the time into filling in and dealing with tinted brow gel in the morning. I'm afraid that they will look over the top and unnatural. Although I may not fill in my brows, I do comb and shape my brows with the Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara. Mascara for brows? This may sound strange, but I'll explain in this review my reasoning for using clear mascara for brows and my thoughts on the Maybelline product.

(Clear) Mascara for Brows?

While the Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara is advertised as a clear mascara, it also states on the packaging that it can also be used for brows. Before discovering this on the packaging, however, clear mascara became popular in the online beauty community. The best part about using a clear mascara for your brows is that you can shape and set your brows without worrying about making any unwanted marks on your skin or over-coloring your brows.

Performance and Product

This Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara performs well with shaping and setting your brows. The brush is thin and the perfect length to mimic as a brow brush and shape your brows. I personally don't fill my brows, but it if you do, this product would do well with setting the powder or pencil. The product itself is not too thick or thin, making it easy to work with and does not get clumpy. The formula also leaves your brows feeling natural and doesn't leave a hard 'hairspray' feel. Not to mention, since this product is advertised as a clear mascara, it can double for your eyelashes as well as a brow gel.

Downsides

The only downside that I have about this product is that is not waterproof, making it susceptible to wearing off throughout the day. I personally like my products to be waterproof due to my oily skin, however, an eyebrow gel that isn't waterproof is not an absolutely must for me, since eyebrows are not often affected by oily skin or weather. Another downside is that some may find the formula of the clear mascara a little too thin, however, the thin brush allows you to adjust how much product you want on your brows.

Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in "Provocateur" Review + Swatches!

Nothing is more classic than the red lip. Although it is considered as a makeup staple for some, I have always been too intimidated to try the classic lip look. When Revlon released their Lacquer Balm collection and saw that there was a classic red in the collection, it immediately caught my attention and was added to my wish list. The Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in "Provocateur" (135) has been on my wish list since last winter, and I finally decided to pick it up recently as part of my Halloween costume and decided that this holiday season, I would go out of my comfort zone and sport the red lip! Read on to see my thoughts on the product!

Packaging and Product

The lip color features shiny and reflective packaging and seems fairly sturdy. The actual product is like a crayon and has a twist up feature for more product, making the product very easy to use. This lip color is also described as balm, which is fitting, since it is not drying and actually a little bit moisturizing. However, it probably won't replace your standard lip balm, especially during the winter months.

Pigmentation

"Provocateur" (135) is a gorgeous neutral (tad bit warm-toned) cherry red color with a slight glossy finish. It also has the slightest bit of shimmer, which is not noticeable on the lips at all, but rather adds to the glossy finish. Even though this product is described as a balm, it definitely has more pigmentation compared to the typical balm. "Provocateur" is a very pigmented lip color, but as you may expect, it is not quite as pigmented as a typical lipstick. Since it is a little bit on the sheer side, you can apply a light layer, but also build it up for a pigmented lip look. Since it also has a glossy finish, the balm is also not drying and moisturizing.

Downsides (Kind of)

The only (very small) downside that I have with this product is how long it lasts before wearing off. I like my products lasting hours and hours, so I didn't expect this lip product to be that long lasting. I was actually pleased with how long this balm lasted, which was a couple hours, and lasts even longer with a lip liner underneath. That being said, I would have liked it to last a little longer, so I don't have to reapply it throughout the day. Overall though, I was pleasantly pleased with this product!

   - Pigmented (semi-opaque, but can build it up to a pigmented finish)
   - Glossy Finish
   - Nice Packaging for the price

   - Wish it lasted a little longer than a 2-3 hours

The Face Shop Clean Face Mild Lotion Review!

On my summer trip to Korea, one of the beauty items that I was on the hunt for was a good moisturizer (check out my Korea haul here!). I wanted something that was moisturizing without being too heavy, since I have combination-oily skin. I decided to stop by The Face Shop so I had only good things about the brand, and decided to pick up the The Face Shop Clean Face Mild Lotion. This Mild Lotion contains tea tree oil and is made for those who have oily skin and are prone to breakouts. It also claims to help reduce the oiliness of your skin.

Product

The product itself is great for those who have really oily skin like me and find most moisturizers too greasy. The moisturizer is thin, but not too thin, making it a great light product. I add a thinker layer of the product on drier spots, since some areas get a little on the dry side after I wash my face. This product immediately absorbs into the skin, which doesn't leave your skin with a oily finish. As for the scent, the moisturizer also has a subtle fresh scent that isn't too powerful, so it won't cause any headaches.

Packaging

I have a love-hate relationship with the packaging on the product. I love that the bottle is very sturdy and well made. The bottle is on the heavier skin and would probably break if dropped on a hard surface. The bottle also feels expensive, even though the product was a drugstore price. As for the downsides of the packaging, to dispense the product, there is not pump but instead just a sort of hole. Since the bottle is hard and not flexible, this means that you have to shake the moisturizer out of the bottle onto your hand to get the product out, not making it the most convenient product.

   - Moisturizes without oily residue

   - Absorbs quickly

   - Sleek and sturdy packaging

   - Subtle fresh scent

   - Not great for those who have dry areas on your skin

Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller Review!

Fall is here, which means no more sleeping in and long hours for many students. Unfortunately, I have bad under eye circles that are hereditary, and when I don't get my seven hours of sleep (which is almost everyday), the puffiness gets even worse. There are hundreds of at home remedies and DIYs for combating puffy under eye circles, however, many of them require time that I don't usually have in the morning (and I'm just too lazy). To hopefully help my dark circles, I decided to buy the Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller as a quick way to help tiredness around my eyes.

Applicator and Formulation

The Garnier roller has a metal rollerball as an applicator, which has a cooling effect that is refreshing and awakening. As you roll the applicator under your eyes, a light gel/moisturiser is distributed. After swiping the applicator under my eyes and on my lids (my eyelids get puffy with little sleep), I then gently patt in the moisturizer until it is completely absorbed into my skin.

Performance

The rollerball claims that "In 2 weeks: Promotes reduced under-eye puffiness". Although the coolness from the applicator woke me up a little in the morning, I did not see any significant difference in my puffiness or dark circles. Since the roller ball is cool, it did "awaken" my eye area temporarily, however, I did not see product helping my eye area throughout the day. After a few weeks, the product also didn't seem to reduce the puffiness my under-eye noticeably, so for me, it didn't live up to its expectations. I did, however, enjoy the cooling roller ball and gel formula.

   - Doesn't reduce the appearance of puffy under eye long-term

   - Doesn't diminish the appearance of dark circles long-term

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in "Juicy Papaya": Review +Swatches

I know I am very behind on the Revlon Lip Butter wagon, but I decided to give it a try after searching for the perfect coral-pink color. I wanted to find a product that is perfect for summer but could be sheered out to wear during the school year. I decided to buy the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in"Juicy Papaya", one of the newer shades in the collection that came out last year, and I was very pleased with the product!

Pigmentation

The shade "Juicy Papaya" is a light-medium coral pink color that goes on a little sheer, but pigmented enough be built up to get a shade similar to the color in the tube. This shade has no shimmer and as Allison Anderson described it, it is the perfect "girl next door" shade. The shade is more on the natural side, but slightly bright enough to instantly awaken your makeup look. It's also a shade that can be applied without a mirror, since it's not a full-on lipstick.

Product and Packaging

The product itself is moisturising for a lip color with that amount of pigmentation. Since the product is moisturising, it makes the product apply more smoothly. The packaging is sturdy and solid without being bulky. The packaging is also adorable with a cap/lid that matches the shade of the product. The top of the lid is also clear, making it easy to see the color of the lip butter without opening up the product.

Downsides

The downside to this product is that if you don't exfoliate your lips, it may settle in the lines and cracks of your lips. However, this is a minor problem and can easily be fixed with a quick lip scrub. The product also only lasts 1-2 hours on me and the pigmentation may also bother some, but it should be kept in mind that this is labeled as a balm and not a full-on lipstick.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer: Review + Swatches!

For someone who wakes up to dark circles every day, I'm always on the hunt for a good concealer to cover up and brighten my eye area. When I heard about Maybelline's Fit Me concealer, I decided to try it out since there there was so much hype behind the product. This product claimed to give a look that's flawless while still being natural, so what was there to lose?

What's good about this concealer?

Let my just first say that I adore this concealer! I do think that it lives up to its claims and does cover up your under eye area well without looking cakey. I have pretty bad under eye circles (being both genetics and from lack of sleep) but after I dot it under my eyes and blend, it covers up my circles and I look more awake! It's a very creamy concealer and blends very well into the skin. I also find that this concealer also covers blemishes as well, however, I primarily use it for my eye area.

Another pro is that this concealer comes in many shades for a drugstore concealer. Color ranges with drugstore concealers can be very limited, however, this concealer comes in six different shades. I'm in the shade 20 Sand Sable and it's a perfect match, especially in the winter when I'm a little less tan. I also like how it comes with a doe foot applicator, making it easier to apply under your eyes and directly on blemishes. The packaging is also very sleek, making it easy to travel with and carry in your purse.

Downsides of this product?

If there is one problem with this concealer, it would probably have to be that it does tend to crease and fade throughout the day. I don't consider this a huge flaw though because most concealers tend to crease on me. The creasing, however, can be fixed slightly with a powder. Just set the concealer with a little bit of powder and it will make it last a lot longer! Overall, I love this concealer and I have repurchased it so I would recommend it to those looking for a natural looking concealer!

NYX Rouge Creme Blush in 'Rose Petal': A Review + Swatches!

I'm always on the hunt for a good blush and I tend to go towards cream blushes rather than powder blushes. Of all the drugstore cream blushes, NYX blushes tend to get the most attention, so I picked up the NYX cream blush in "Rose Petal" at ULTA for $6.99, and as far as I know, ULTA's the only place that carries NYX products. Read on to see my thoughts on this blush!

This blush was the first cream blush that I had tried. NYX has a good range of cream blushes, so it was hard for me to pick one that I would think be good for everyday. The first time I bought this blush was actually around three years ago and I decided to pick up the blush in "Rose Petal" because it seemed liked the most natural (and pretty) flush color. Let me tell you, it was a good choice because this is a gorgeous color! This quickly became part of my everyday routine and I already gone through a couple pans!

Pigmentation, Blend-ability, and Pros

"Rose Petal" is a perfect peachy-pink rosy color which isn't too bright so it's perfect for everyday. It is also a matte blush with no shimmer, which I really enjoy. The formula is very creamy and this blush is very pigmented. A little bit goes a long ways but it is very easy to blend and can be easily blended either with my fingers or a brush. When blended into my cheeks, I find that it leaves me with a very natural and dewy flush, but not oily, which is perfect for someone with oily skin like me!

Downsides with this product?

Since this blush is a cream blush, I expected that it would last all day. When I applied, I did find that it lasted for a fairly long time, however, sometimes I needed to touch up throughout the day. This may, however, be due to my oily skin. Another problem that some may have is that it is actually too pigmented, but when applied carefully, it blends fairly easily. Other than that, I was pretty satisfied with this product!

NYC Smooth Skin "Sunny" Bronzer: A Review + Swatches!

For the longest time, I have been on the hunt for a bronzer without a hefty price tag. Drugstore bronzers don't usually get as much hype as higher-end bronzers, however, one bronzer that has been getting a bit of attention in the beauty world is the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder in "Sunny." I have heard about this bronzer for a while, however, I never bothered to pick it up. Having graduated from high school and in college, I never wore that much face makeup and a bronzer didn't really seem like a necessity. Recently however, I picked this bronzer up at Target and it didn't take long for me to join the cult behind this product!

I bought this bronzer at Target initially not being 100% sure on whether or not I wanted to purchase it and wasn't sure if I actually needed a new bronzer. However, when I saw the price for this product, I was immediately sold. This product at Target was less than $3 ($2.99 to be exact) and with all the hype around the product, I thought this was defiantly a deal!

Pigmentation and Quality: This is a matte bronzer with fairly good pigmentation. It is pigmented enough so that you don't have to cake it on however it isn't overly pigmented so you don't have to be too careful. If you want to build up the product, it is very to build on without looking cakey. This bronzer is easy to apply and does apply smoothly, making it easier to apply and blend. It also suits many skin tones.

Uses: This bronzer also being matte makes it perfect for both contouring and overall bronzing. I apply this bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks, temples, sides of my face, and down the jawline. The bronzer being matte also gives you a nice glow without worrying about being overly shimmery. This bronzer also lives up to it's name as being "smooth."

Packaging: In terms of packaging, the compact is not bulky, making it easy to travel with. It also comes with a built-in mirror which surprised me, considering the price and most drugstore products don't come with mirrors. This product also came with a sponge applicator, however, I'm honestly not a huge fan of it, especially for applying bronzer. I think that the best way to apply bronzer for a natural look is a makeup brush.

Downsides: I have to say that I do think that this a good bronzer, without being too orange or muddy and without the worry of making you look like an umpa-lumpa. However, I did find that this bronzer was the tiniest bit on the orange side, however, it's nothing to worry about and shouldn't really be a game changer. That would probably be my only (small) complaint about this product.

Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara: A Review!

The new Covergirl Clump Crusher mascara has been getting a lot of hype lately. I read multiple reviews and this item seems like it is slowly becoming a cult favorite, so I had to try out this product. It claims that you will "Get 200% more volume and zero clumps" which appealed to me because I'm not a fan of clumpy mascara. I loved the original Lash Blast Volume mascara in the orange tube so I decided to give this mascara try!

So does this mascara add volume and not clump like it claims?

When I first tried out this mascara, I have to say that I wasn't too crazy about it. It did clump a little bit on me, however, once I learned how to "use" this mascara, I started to like this mascara more and more! In terms of volume, I feel like this does a really fairly good job at both lengthening and volumizing lashes, but not quite as much as I expected. It's one of those mascaras that when you know how to use it, you will really like it.
In terms of clumping, this mascara did a good job with preventing clumping, however, if you want to add multiple coats or touch up throughout the day, you may find that this mascara does tend to clump a little. The wand on this brush is also not flexible which is good for building up the mascara on lashes and getting fuller lashes

How does it compare to the Lash Blast Volume mascara?
When comparing the two, I felt like the Clump Crush didn't create as much volume as the Lash Blast Volume mascara. Both mascaras though both have similar brushes with plastic bristles, however, the brush on the Clump Crusher is curved, which helps with putting mascara on the bottom lashes. The curved wand though didn't make a enormous difference for me. 

How is the formulation of this mascara?
In terms of the formulation of this mascara, it seemed to be a little more wet than the Lash Blast Volume mascara. This seemed to help with preventing clumping when applying the mascara, however, I thought that the mascara formula was a little too wet for my taste and seemed like it took a long time to dry. However, this did allow for build up without clumping.

How is the water resistance of this mascara and Does it smudge throughout the day?
The mascara that I bought was water resistant, but I was expecting this mascara to stay on my lashes longer than it did. This is water-resistant, not waterproof. It will smudge when it comes in contact with a lot of water, such as swimming. Even though it is water-resistant, I found that after 5 hours, the mascara would start flaking onto my under eye area. For someone who likes a good waterproof mascara, I was slightly disappointed with the water-resistance.

Pros:
   - Does add volume and some length to eyelashes
   - Curved wands helps with getting all the lashes and bottom lashes
   - Doesn't clump with the first few coats

Cons:
   - Flakes a little through out the day
   - It's a bit wet, however some people my like this
   - Will tend to clump with multiple coats of this mascara
   - Doesn't have a complete waterproof version.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer: A Review + Swatches!

The new Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer (wow that's a mouthfull) has been getting a lot of buzz in the makeup world. So me, constantly being on the hunt for the perfect concealer, had to try this one out! This product is said to be a dupe for the YSL 'Touche Eclat' Radiant Touch Luminous Radiance Concealer, but I have never tried it before. Since there seemed to be a lot of hype around this product, I bought this concealer in the shade "Nude 330".

This concealer was the first brightening concealer that I have ever tried, so I didn't really know what to expect other than it concealing. I have to say that I am somewhat impressed by this product! It did conceal my under eye area, which is good, but it also did a good job at concealing redness and blemishes. As for brightening, I did find that it brighten my eye area nicely just enough and it doesn't have any sparkles or shimmer, so it looks very natural, which I loved!

 

Another pro about this concealer is that since it is brightening, it can be used as not just a concealer, but also as a brightener/highlight. To brighten my face, I apply this concealer under my eyes, on my chin, and above my upper lip. I don't apply this on my cheekbones, however, like most highlights, because first, I have oily skin so I don't use a highlight, and second, this isn't brightening enough, in my opinion, to be used as a highlighter and can look a little cakey.

The reason why earlier I said I 'somewhat' like this concealer was because even though it did conceal my under eye area, I didn't find it to be long lasting. It didn't last as long as my Maybelline Fit Me concealer, and one of the things I look for in a concealer is whether it's long-wearing. However, in the product's defense, it isn't advertised as a super-long-wearing concealer.
Another problem with this concealer was that I found that it tended to crease throughout the day, even when I did set it. Overall though, I thought that this was a decent concealer and would recommend it to those looking for an affordable brightening concealer.

Pros:
   - Brightens under the eye
   - Multi-purpose concealer
   - Conceals under eyes and blemishes well

Cons:
   - Creases throughout the day
   - Only lasts up to 4-5 hours

MAC "All that Glitters" Eyeshadow: A Review + Swatches!

The first thing that I ever bought at MAC was the "All That Glitters" eyeshadow. I got it for my birthday a few years, and let me tell you, I still love it! It is such a pigmented color! Perfect for both the day and night! It is a pretty shimmery eyeshadow, but just enough for your eyes to stand out without them looking like a disco ball.

When buying the eyeshadow, I was having trouble trying to decide between "All That Glitters" and "Naked Lunch." Both colors are so pretty but the lady behind the MAC counter said that "All That Glitters" would look pretty on my eyes, which are a dark brown color. Let me tell you, this color looks so pretty against brown eyes! With it being a champagne color with gold glitter, it would look good against any eye color or skin tone.

This eyeshadow is also so pigmented and very smooth! With or without primer, this color really stands out on the eyelid. If you can invest in one MAC color, I would recommend this one.

This color is the perfect for just a wash of color all over the lid, but I also use it in the outer corner and crease with a lighter color on the lid. "All That Glitters" also works surprisingly well in the inner corner. To make your eyes really stand out, this color on the lower lash line really does the trick!
Although this color is gorgeous, my only complaint is that it does have some fall out, but it can be avoided by tapping off the excess before applying

Pros:
    - Very Pigmented
    - Smooth
    - Looks good against any skin color or eye color

Cons:
    - Some fallout
