Tuesday Ten: Pretty Hair Bows

Bows have been in for a while now, and were especially big in the spring. I saw people of all ages wearing bows! I honestly used to think of bows as something a younger school-girl would wear, but lately, I have been really liking the trend! There are so many different kinds of bows out there now and they can be found at almost any store and can be found at a low cost.
Bows are such a simple and easy way to play-up your hair without taking a long time. You can just pull your hair back and clip it with a bow or you can clip a bow under a top-knot to add a little more to a simple hairdo.
Here are some of my favorite bows!

Summer Beauty Must-Haves!

Summer will officially be here in a few days, which is more than exciting! Summer means longer days and warm (and humid) weather. During the summer, I tend to keep my makeup a lot lighter, considering the warmer weather as well as the fact that I tend to not see many people I know compared to during the school year. Even though I like to keep my makeup lighter, I also like to pullout the fun colors during the summer for a fun pop of color, whether it's on the cheeks or on the nails. Summer is also a great time to experiment more with makeup and what suits you!

Here are some of my summer must haves for the warmer weather!

(details go clockwise)
  1. Tinted Moisturizer/BB Cream: During the summer, use something light on the face, such as tinted moisturizer or BB Cream, rather than something thicker, like a full-coverage foundation which can melt off your face during the warmer summer days.
  2. Bright Lipstick: Many people tone down the makeup during the summer, but brighten up a no-little makeup look with a bright lipstick, such as a coral or pink. This is a perfect way to brighten up the face while looking summering (and not trying hard)!
  3. Matte Bronzer: For those who want a tan but are unable to achieve it during the summer, fake it with a matte bronzer applied to places where the sun hits naturally on the face can give you that summer bronzy glow!
  4. Bright Nail Polish: Since school is out, that means that we have more time to take to ourselves, such as painting nails. Bright nail polish is perfect for the summer and is probably one of the only times during the year when you can get way with wearing crazy and bold colors!
  5. Oil-Blotting Sheets: These are must during those long days and nights! These are perfect for those who don't want to pile on powder in the middle of summer.
  6. Fruity Body Mist: Go lighter during the summer and try out different body mists! Bath and Body Works and Victoria Secret has a wide selection of scents perfect for the summer.
  7. Sunscreen: This may be a given, but sunscreen is so important in the summer when the sun is out. Protect your skin (including your face and neck!) with a sunscreen with at least a 20 SPF. A sunscreen with 40-50 SPF usually suits most people! Your skin will thank you in the future!
  8. Waterproof Mascara: This may again be a given, but if you are going swimming a lot or just going to be in the sun a lot, a waterproof mascara is the way to go. It will prevent smearing while swimming and will not melt off in the sun.
  9. Cream Blush: The nice thing about cream blush is that it will stay on your face and will not budge throughout the day! Plus it gives you such a nice, dewy finish.
  10. Lip Balm w/ SPF: Skin is not the only thing that can get burned during the summer. Protect your lips with a lip balm with SPF to prevent them from getting burned. A lot of lip balms with SPF also come in many colors!
I hope this helped!

Get the Look: Ariana Grande's "The Way" Makeup Look

The song "The Way" by Ariana Grande has been playing on the radio a lot, which means that it's been getting stuck in my head. In the music video, Ariana wore such a pretty makeup look that is perfect for not only school, but also the summer time. Her makeup was very natural and very delicate and pretty. I think that this is a makeup look that anyone can try out and wear everyday!

Here's my take on her look:

Face:
  • BB Cream: A nice light foundation, like a BB cream is prefect for this look. Ariana wasn't wearing anything too heavy on her face, but did a flawless finish. BB creams are great because they are the perfect middle between a tinted moisturizer and a foundation and also are made by both drugstores brands as well as high-end brands. (Shown: Maybelline's BB Cream)
  • Light Bronzer: Although Ariana didn't have any heavy contouring, her cheekbones did stand out. Get this look by applying a light bronzer in the hollows of your cheeks. (Shown: Bobbi Brown's Bronzing Powder)
  • Pink Blush: Ariana had the slightest bit of blush on the apples of her cheeks. It didn't look like she was wearing any heavy blush, so apply a light baby-pink blush lightly on the apples of your cheeks. (Shown: Clinique Blush in "Cupid", but a good dupe is the Covergirl blush in "Classic Pink")
  • Highlighter: Ariana defiantly had a glow to her face during the music video. Get her glow by applying a pinkish highlighter on the tops of your cheek bones up to the temples. This will give you a pretty glow. (Shown: Benefit High-Beam)
Eye:
  • Eyeshadow: Ariana wasn't wearing a lot of eye makeup, but to get her natural look, start off by applying a light peach cream eyeshadow all over the lid. Next, apply a muted brown-gray color in the crease for a little bit of dimension. Next, blend everything well. (Shown: Benefit Cream shadow in "Oyster Pink" and Urban Decay eyeshadow in "Naked")
  • Gel Eyeliner: Apply a thin line of eyeliner on the upperlash line for the look of fuller lashes that Ariana had in the video. (Shown: Maybelline Gel Eyeliner)
  • Volumizing Mascara: Ariana had very full lashes, which made her eyes pop. To achieve this look, apply a volumizing mascara to the upper lashes and apply a little to the bottom lashes. (Shown: Maybelline The Rocket Mascara)

Lips:
Ariana wore a soft berry-pink color on her lips. This color is seriously so pretty and perfect whether you're going for a casual look or want a pretty lip color for a night out. This color also suits all skin tones! (Shown: Korres Cherry Full Color Gloss in "Pink 16")

I hope this helped!

MAC "All that Glitters" Eyeshadow: A Review + Swatches!

The first thing that I ever bought at MAC was the "All That Glitters" eyeshadow. I got it for my birthday a few years, and let me tell you, I still love it! It is such a pigmented color! Perfect for both the day and night! It is a pretty shimmery eyeshadow, but just enough for your eyes to stand out without them looking like a disco ball.

When buying the eyeshadow, I was having trouble trying to decide between "All That Glitters" and "Naked Lunch." Both colors are so pretty but the lady behind the MAC counter said that "All That Glitters" would look pretty on my eyes, which are a dark brown color. Let me tell you, this color looks so pretty against brown eyes! With it being a champagne color with gold glitter, it would look good against any eye color or skin tone.

This eyeshadow is also so pigmented and very smooth! With or without primer, this color really stands out on the eyelid. If you can invest in one MAC color, I would recommend this one.

This color is the perfect for just a wash of color all over the lid, but I also use it in the outer corner and crease with a lighter color on the lid. "All That Glitters" also works surprisingly well in the inner corner. To make your eyes really stand out, this color on the lower lash line really does the trick!
Although this color is gorgeous, my only complaint is that it does have some fall out, but it can be avoided by tapping off the excess before applying

Pros:
    - Very Pigmented
    - Smooth
    - Looks good against any skin color or eye color

Cons:
    - Some fallout

Overall rating: 9 out of 10

Hope this helped!

How to and All About: Loafers!

Before this year, I had always thought of loafers as shoes that was for men and as informal office wear. However, this has recently become a trend that I have really been liking in the marvelous world of shoes. Stores are now selling loafers that are more slimming and feminine and are completely different than the typical office-wear shoe. Loafers are now made to be the perfect new sophisticated twist to the everyday flat. They pretty much look good with anything that pairs well with flats. They come in many different styles and colors just like flats to fit anyone's style.

Here are some of my favorite loafers!

  • Classic Loafer. The classic, basic loafer is a perfect alternative to the classic ballet flat. It can go with anything! It can pull together any outfit!
  • Cut-out. The cut-out trend has been in and can be found in all stores, whether it's clothing or shoes. This loafer is the perfect way to incorporate the trend subtly, and looks cute all year long.
  • Animal Print. Loafers with an animal print is the perfect way to add more to a simple outfit and has been seen a lot this season.
  • Studs. For those who like the edgy trend, a pair of studded loafers is the perfect shoe. It is classy, but with a fashionable, edgy twist.
  • Tassels. Tassels on loafers us always a very classic look. Tassels add a little more for those who think that the simple loafer is too plain for them.
  • Velvet. Like the classic, basic loafer, velvet loafers go with everything. I've been seeing the velvet trend being incorporated into clothing, such as shirts and skirts, and now they're on shoes. Velvet loafers aren't tacky, like some velvet clothing and look so cute with any outfit.
How to style

  • Detailed/Patterned Loafers + Skinny Jeans + Flowy Top. When wearing a detailed pair of loafers, a light, simple top can balance them out nicely.
  • Loafers + Cropped/Black Skinny Jeans + Button Down Shirt. I love the pairing of loafers and skinny jeans that are cropped at just above the ankles. When paired with a button down shirt, it is the perfect laid-back outfit.
  • Loafers + Black Circle Skirt + Bright Chiffon Top. For a little more dressy-er look, tuck a colored chiffon top with black circle skirt with loafers. I think that loafers and circle skirts/a-line dresses is a perfect go-to look.
I hope this helped!
