Tuesday Ten: Pretty Braids

Braids are such a huge trend yet super easy. Braids can be really simple with just a three strand braid, or more complicated with a fishtail or french braid. Braids are perfect for everyday as well as for more special occasions. They look pretty with both straight hair or curly hair. I think braids are such an easy way to change up your hair for a day, and they are so pretty! Add a flower or bow for an extra spring touch!
Here are some of my favorite braids:

Fishtail braids pulled back

Double fishtail braid

Waterfall braid updo

Braid with flowers

French braids

Hope this helped!

Maybelline Volum' Express Mega Plush Mascara: A Review!

Maybelline mascaras have been getting a lot of hype lately, so I decided to try one for myself. The Maybelline Volum' Express Mega Plush mascara is the first Maybelline mascara that I have tried, and so far, I have really enjoyed it! When reading reviews on this mascara, I mostly heard that it was a mascara for a more "natural" look. Even though the mascaras that I usually buy are volumizing mascaras (like the Covergirl Lash Blast), I like the more natural look, and not the clumpy, overly-volumed mascara look. When I heard about this mascara, I decided to try it out.

At first, I wasn't quite in love with this mascara, however, the more I used it, the more I fell in love. This is now by go-to everyday mascara.

This mascara has a large brush with flexible bristles and a flexible wand. I can't say that I'm a huge fan of the flexible wand. It bends back to up to a 45 degree angle (sorry for the math talk) but it does give your lashes a more natural look. The mascara has a gel-mousse formula, making it go on the lashes very easily. It doesn't clump on your lashes a lot, and it is very buildable without looking very clumpy. The mascara also spreads the lashes really well, making it look like that you have a ton of lashes.

Even though I really like this mascara, one of the problems I have is that if I do want big lashes, this mascara doesn't quite do the job. This mascara is buildable, however, if you want bold lashes, this mascara may not be the one.

   -Spreads out and separates lashes
-Light formula, so easy to apply
-Good for the natural, everyday look

   -Doesn't give a ton a volume
-The flexible wand may not be for everyone
-Light formula may not be for someone who wants a lot of volume.

Overall Rating: 9 out of 10

Overall, I really like this mascara. The flexible wand is not my favorite part, but I do like how it gives me a natural look, while still volumizing my lashes. I also really like how it separates my lashes. If you are looking for a natural looking mascara for school or work, I would recommend this mascara.

I hope you enjoyed this and it was helpful!

Tuesday Ten: Detailed Shoulder and Collar Trend

A trend that was huge during the winter was detailed collars and shoulders. This trend is continuing into the spring season. I like this trend because it can be very subtle and delicate or can be dramatic. When wearing this trend, I would recommend keeping the rest of the outfit simple. Pair the detailed top with a simple pair of skinny jeans or shorts with simple flats and you're good to go!
Here are some of my favorite detailed shoulders and collars.

Large Stud Detailing

Rhinestone Peter Pan Collar

Studded Detailed Collar

Metallic and Sequin Collar

Simple Gold-Detailed Collar

Off-Shoulder Detailed Shoulder

Pearl Collar

Small Studded Cllar

Delicate Lace Detailed Collar

Uniquely Detailed Collar

New Blog Title?: Welcome to "Knots and Ruffles"!

So, as you can see, I have decided to change my blog title. I wanted to change some things up, so I have decided to change the title from "Just Loving Lilacs and Beauty" to "Knots and Ruffles" and change the design of my blog a little. I am thinking about making a new banner for my blog title, so if any of you know of a good websites to create banners, please let me know!
I have been unable to post that often and unfortunately it will be like this for a while. I have been really busy with school and college stuff and school has pretty much taken over my life so far. I will try to post more often in the next few months and do more reviews and trends posts.

Also, I would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone following my blog! I really appreciate it!

I hope you enjoy the new blog!
