The Resolutions Tag! | Moving From 2013 to 2014

The year of 2013 has been filled of ups and downs and roller coaster rides (figuratively and literally). I ended some chapters and started a new chapter in my life. I've had some of the best times of my life so far this year, while also dealing with some of the worst, emotionally draining times of my life. This tag highlights mainly the good parts of 2013, making you reflect on your decisions and the year in general while also looking forward by setting goals and resolutions. Read on to see my answers to this tag!

∙ LOOKING BACK ∙
1. Name 3 things you did this year that you're proud of. A lot has happened this year, and the first thing that I am proud of is graduating High School. After 12 years of school, it was kinda good to be done! Second thing would be starting college, which was definitely a big change. The third thing that I did is not giving up on my blog! I love blogging and am glad that I have been posting more than I used to!
2. Name 1 thing you wish you'd have done differently. I think that I would have approached college a little more differently, such as being more open to letting people in, which I have always had a hard time doing (and a hard time admitting).
3. What was your biggest highlight this year? Probably hanging out with high school friends for our "last" summer together as high schoolers and living in the moment with them.
4. What was your favorite beauty product this year? I would probably say Urban Decay Primer Potion. I know, this is kinda boring, but I feel like I haven't found the "holy grail" beauty products, like bronzer, eyeshadow, and mascara. For how oily my skin is, the Urban Decay Primer Potion does keep my eyeshadow on all day (however I have to add two layers).
5. What was your least favorite beauty product this year? Probably the Up&Up makeup wipes. I know this is boring, but I'm usually really careful about buying beauty products and I will research them and check reviews on them to its fullest, so I don't really get super disappointed when I buy a products (I'm kinda weird like that). Usually I get disappointed with skin care products since their results vary per person.
6. Who do you want to thank for being amazing this year? I would have to anyone who put up with me during any rough times. I had a pretty stressful year so I thank anyone who was by my side (as cheesy as it sounds)!

∙ RESOLUTIONS ∙
7. What are the makeup/beauty resolutions you have for next year? I think that I want to try to branch out a little with makeup and maybe to new colors, such as different blush and lip colors, since I usually just stick to rosy and natural colors!
8. What are the fashion resolutions you have for next year? I think that I want to evolve my fashion style. I'm happy with my style now, but I kinda think that I want to make my style a bit more preppy, like I have always wanted it to be. The problem is that I don't go shopping all that much so I just want to find some good pieces to help my style evolve.
9. What are your personal resolutions for next year? My personal resolutions for next year may seem like a lot, but I want to find a place where I totally happy and to find out what I want to do with my life. I also want to eat healthier and to work out more so I'm just more healthy overall.
10. Name 1 thing you want to check off your bucket list next year. I think that I want to join a yoga class! I know that it's nothing too crazy but I have always wanted to join a yoga class and now that I'm in college, I have more of an opportunity to join one!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Simple New Years Eve Makeup Look!

It still blows my mind to think that it's already almost 2014! The end of 2013 though means New Years Eve! This makeup is a simple and easy New Years Eve look with sparkly yet subtle eyes with a fresh, illuminating face makeup. I love the combination of bright/light silver with a deep plum color for the eyes! It works well with all eye colors, especailly brown and hazel eyes! Read on to see my simple New Years Eve look!

Eyes:
Start the eye makeup by applying a silver cream eyeshadow (such as Maybelline's "Silver Strike cream eyeshadow) all over the lid. Next, apply a shimmery bright silver eyeshadow all over the lid. Deepen the look by apply a deep plum-purple eyeshadow in the crease and outer corner and blend well! You can also build up the color for some added definition and smokey-ness.
Using a black liquid eyeliner, apply a thin line on the upper lashline and wing out the eyeliner if desired. Finish the eye look off with a black volumizing mascara.

Face:
For the face, start off with a foundation and apply evenly all over the skin. If you ave oily skin, set with a powder. Next, take a bronzer with shimmer and apply in the hollows of your face and temples. Taking a light pink lush with shimmer, apply to the applys of your cheeks. Lastly, take a light highlighter, and apply to the tops of your cheek bones and down your nose.

Lips:
Apply a pink-nude lipstick and finish the whole look off with a light pink lip gloss.

I hope you found this helpful!

Best of 2013!

Believe it or not, 2013 is all done and 2014 is just around the corner. 2013 was full of ups and downs and overall was probably the craziest year I have ever had. This post though will be about the best of 2013 for me and my favorite products and things that I liked this year. Read on to see what my yearly favorites were for 2013!

Beauty:
1. Foundation: I don't use foundation so I have no answer for this one.
2. Concealer: My favorite concealer is probably the Maybelline Fit Me concealer! It covers and conceals my under eyes well while still looking natural!
3. Powder: The Rimmel Stay Matte powder! I have oily skin so a matte powder has become a necessity for me! This powder is cheap while still doing the job and keeps you matte.
4. Blush/Bronzer: This year I have got more into bronzer later this year and I have to say that my favorite bronzer is the NYC Sunny Bronzer! It's pretty cheap and isn't too orange or too muddy, making it a pretty good bronzer! Plus it's matte which makes it more natural looking! (I'll have a review on this product soon!) Beginning of the year though I was more into the NYX "Rose Petal" cream blush.
5. Highlighter: I don't use highlighter that much since I have oily skin, but if I was to use a highlighter, I use my sample of Benefit's Watts Up, which is a pretty champagne highlighter!
6. Brow: Maybelline's Clear Mascara! I know that this may sound weird to some, but I don't fill in my eyebrows or anything, I just set them, which the clear mascara is perfect for!
7. Eye Product: Bobbie Brown gel eyeliner in "Caviar Ink". I got this eyeliner after having my makeup done for prom at the Bobbi Brown counter, and I am in love with this eyeliner! Stays on everyday and is perfect for everyday wear!
8. Lip Product: I don't usually wear that many lip products, so my most used and favorite lip product of 2013 is the EOS lip balm in the sweet mint scent. I use it every day and it does the job well!

Fashion:
Clothing Piece: I have absolutely been loving skater skirts this year! The have been "in" all year and it's one trend that I hope never goes out of style.
Accessory: I don't usually where accessories, so I don't think that I can answer this one.
Pair of Shoes: In the spring and summer, I was really liking nude flats and my loafers, however, when I started college in the fall, I started to change the shoes I wore. Now I mostly where comfortable shoes, such as my TOMS.

Random:
Favorite TV show: This year, I once again loved Revenge, New Girl, and Psych! I didn't start any new shows this year, since I have been pretty busy with school. I would totally recommend those shows though!
Favorite book: I am not a huge reader but my favorite read (particularly in the summer) was "Along for the Ride" by Sarah Dessen. This book was about a girl the same age as me and an unexpected summer fling, so I shamelessly lived through the character when I read this over the summer. It also wasn't that bad of a book for a young adult beach-read!
Food: I don't know if I have one particular food that was my favorite, but in general I have been loving pasta! I also have been loving Indian food!
Beverage: Since I don't really drink anything aside from water, I'm not sure what my favorite drink is. I do also like lemonade and the Odwalla juice drinks.
Favorite Song: I absolutely love music so this one is a hard one for me! This year, particularly in the beginning of the year, I loved the Imagine Dragons CD! My favorite songs were Radioactive, Demons, and On Top Of the World. I also like (be prepared for this long list) Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke (guilty pleasure), Thank You by MKTO, Pompeii by Bastille, I Wish by Cher Lloyd, Can't Help by Parachute, Sweater Weather by The Neighbourhood, and Fall Out Boy in general.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Winter Wonderland Tag!

Even though every season there seems to be a new tag, I still think it's fun filling out the questions! I think it's fun filling out these tags, especially the seasonal ones. It's also fun looking back on the tags in the later months or years and seeing how you changed over time! I also love listening or reading other peoples' answers! I watched Amarixe's video for this tag (here) and I thought it would be fun to do on my blog! Read on to see my answers to the questions!

1) Favorite thing about winter? My favorite thing about winter is, as cheesy as it sounds, just all the Christmas lights and decorations everywhere! I also love the holiday food and drinks and the scents that come during this time of year!
2) Scarves or Beanies? Scarves! I have never been able to pull of a beanie. I would try in stores all the time in middle school but they just never worked with me. Plus you can find scarves in so many colors and styles and they make any simple outfit look put together.
3) Favorite holiday movie? Probably either It's a Wonderful Life or Elf. I have seen It's a Wonderful Life a countless number of times and it's definitely a classic! Elf though is hilarious for the whole family and is one of my favorite movies!
4) Favorite winter nail polish? Right now I have been wearing Essie's "Bahama Mama" for the past few weeks. Even though it is a more fall color, I think the red and plum undertones in the polish work for the winter time!
5) Favorite Starbucks Holiday Drink? At home, I have been loving the Trader Joes Candy Cane Green Tea! The combination of peppermint and green tea may sound strange but it's seriously so good! Plus the tea is less than $3! If I go to coffee shops though, I always go for either a peppermint hot chocolate or a chai latte.
6) What are your top 3 winter essentials? #1: A good moisturizer! I have oily skin but in the winter time, my skin takes a 180 and suddenly gets super dry after I wash my face. I have yet to find the perfect moisturizer though! #2: Fuzzy Socks! I live in fuzzy socks during the day (when I can) and during the night! There is nothing more comfy for your feet than fuzzy socks! #3: Champange/Gold Eyeshadow! During the winter, I feel like you can get away with having fun with your makeup! I love wearing "All That Glitters" from MAC all over the lid during the winter!
7) Name one item on your wish list this year. Probably a pair of riding boots! I have been wanting and looking for a good pair of riding boots for a while and I have been on the hunt for the right boot for me!
8) Favorite holiday song? I honestly like pretty much any holiday song, but if I had to choose, probably "All I Want for Christmas" by Mariah Carey. I have also been listening to Kurt Schneider's arrangement of holiday songs called "Holiday Medley!" on repeat.
9) Did you go Black Friday shopping this year? Nope. I have never really considered going Black Friday shopping. Usually those sales go on for longer than Friday into the weekend so I don't think it's worth the hastle to go on that Friday.
10) Must have winter lip product? A good chapstick! With the dry weather, a good chapstick is necessary, especially if you are going to wear a bright lipstick or lipgloss.
11) Will you be rocking an ugly Christmas sweater this year? I wish! I dont' have an ugly Christmas sweater, but I wish I did!
12) Have you ever had a white Christmas where you live? It doesn't snow a lot during December where I live, however, I do remember it snowing one year! I wish that it would snow every year for Christmas but unfortunately it just mostly rains where I live!
13) Favorite winter candle scent? I will probably update this since usually I judge my favorite scents off of Bath and Body Works scents and I haven't been there yet this season. I do tend to love either sweeter scents or pine and apple scents!
14) How will you be celebrating this holiday? I will be celebrating this holiday by spending time with my family, watching TV and movies, and going shopping! Nothing beats staying at home with a nice cup of tea though!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
What is your favorite moisturizer in the winter!
I have been looking for a good moisturizer and I love to hear your recommendations!

Holiday Outfit Ideas!

The holiday season is officially here, which means that it's time to pull out the sequins and glitter! Winter fashion around Christmas time is probably one of my favorite times of the year for fashion! I love how you can get away with looking festive and nice during this month and how December is an excuse to dress up nice! Below are four holiday outfits from party outfits to holiday get-togethers with the family!

Outfit #1:
I absolutely love gold sequins in the winter and holiday season! It's the perfect way to look festive! To wear sequins without looking like a disco ball, pair a gold sequin top tucked into a black circle skirt. I also love the look of gold sequins and a red blazer, however, a black blazer also works! Finish the outfit with black tights and a pair of black wedges!

Outfit #2:
Tank, Flats, Jeggings, Cardigan, Necklace
This outfit is also on the more dressy side, however, it can easily be dressed down. A true red for me is perfect for the holidays! Pair a simple red top with pair of black jeggings or skinny jeans and black patent flats. To dress up the outfit, wear the top with a sequin black cardigan, but a regular black cardigan will work as well. I love the combination of red and gold, so finishing the outfit with a gold statement necklace is the perfect touch!

Outfit #3:
Dress, Tights, Belt, Boots, Necklace
This outfit can be dressed up or down. Start off with your favorite little black dress. Next, pair the dress with a gold belt, such as one like the gold bow belt shown above and a long gold necklace. Finish the look of with a pair of black tights and a pair of classic brown riding boots.

Outfit #4
Shirt, Jeggings, Boots, Earrings, Scarf
This outfit is definitely the most casual of all the outfits. Sometimes family holiday get-togethers are casual and all about comfort. Start off the outfit with a classic red flannel and black jeggings. Add a pair of brown riding boots to dress up the look a little. Accessorize the outfit by adding a pair of gold sparkly studs and a white scarf.

Homemade Holiday Gift Ideas!

Homemade gifts are perfect for the holiday time, because they are personal while also being useful! They can be fun to make and you don't have to go through the stress of last minute shopping. You can also make DIY recipes in bulk to make gifts for multiple people. Here are four of my favorite homemade gift ideas! (Just click on the gift name to go to the directions)
  1. Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix. This gift is perfect for everyone! Plus the layers (especially the peppermint) look really pretty through the clear jar! Although this recipe is for hot chocolate, this idea can also work with other recipes such as cookies by layering the different ingredients!
  2. DIY Lemon Scrub. Sugar and salt scrubs are a fun gift for beauty lovers. This recipe is for a body scrub, however you can also find recipes for face and lip scrubs for gifts!
  3. Italian Feast Gift Basket. Homemade gift baskets are always a good gift and I love the idea of an Italian gift basket with pasta and homemade sauce! Such a cute idea! Movie baskets are also fun to put together!
  4. Homemade Face Mask with Pumpkin. Like the sugar scrubs, face masks are also a fun idea! There are many face mask recipes and you can find some that don't require refrigeration.

Almond Shaped Nails: In or Out

Almond shaped nails are when the nail is filed so that the tip of the nail is pointed, however, still slightly rounded and not as pointed as a stiletto nail. The almond shape is good for making your fingers appear longer and slimmer and has been seen on many celebrities, such as Blake Lively, Katy Perry, and Rhianna.

I have been seeing almond shaped nails on the runways, red carpet, and a lot on Tumblr. They seem to be a huge trend of throughout this year, as well as nail art on almond shaped nails. As seen in the pictures above, I have seen mainly neutrals on the nails, as well as black and really deep colors.

As trendy as this nail shape is, I have to say that I'm going to pass on this one. This trend is a little too daring for everyday for me personally.

How do you feel about the trend?
Are you planning on trying to out or have already tried it out?

Get the Look: Carrie Bradshaw from "The Carrie's Diaries" Inspired Makeup Look!

The show ''The Carrie Diaries'' has been one of my favorites and the second season hasn't disappointed yet! Carrie, the main character, is a high school student in the 80's who is a fashionista and also deals with high school problems. She is a relatable character who expresses who she is through her fashion. Even though she has a sophisticated fashion taste, she always wear a natural look, yet has a little more definition. Read on to see my take on her look!

Face
  • Tinted Moisturizer or BB cream: Apply a light weight foundation for evening out the skin.
  • Bronzer: Carrie's face is always lightly contoured. Lightly contour the cheek bones and jawline with a bronzer and a large bronzing brush.
  • Light Pink Blush: Apply lightly to the apples of your cheeks for a nice glow.
  • Pearl HighlighterCarrie always where a highlighter. Apply a highlight that closely matches your skin tone for a natural glow.
Eyes
Carry often times wears two looks, one that's more natural and one that has a little more color.
  • Dark, Coppery Brown Eyeshadow: Apply in the crease. Carry usually really deepens up the crease, so apply this color in the crease and slightly above the crease, blending away from the nose.

Lips
Carrie seems to always wear either a peach color or a soft berry lip color. The Revlon lip butter in "Berry Smoothie" is the perfect lip color for this look.

I hope this helped!
