Scent for Less: Viva La Juicy Dupes

Whenever I go into Sephora or Ulta, the thing that I always do is go to the fragrance section and try on Viva La Juicy. The scent quickly became a cult favorite a several years ago and is still loved today. It's perfect for both daytime and school as well as the night. I absolutely love the smell, but I can't quite justify the price for a 1.7 oz bottle. That's when I started looking for dupes for the popular scent. I was surprised to see that many companies have scents that have similar notes as Viva La Juicy.
Here are some that I found:

Bath and Body Works in "Forever Sunshine"
While researching, on the products that I came across ended up being one of my favorite scents from Bath and Body Works, "Forever Sunshine." At first, I had never associated Forever Sunshine with Viva La Juicy. After finding out that they were similar though, I immediately started to see the similarities. No wonder I like "Forever Sunshine" so much!

"Forever Sunshine":
  • Top Notes: juicy tangerine, golden apricot, sparkling mandarin, exotic berries
  • Mid Notes: gardenia petals, freesia, pink peonies
  • Base Notes: vanilla bean gelato, creamy sandalwood, nuzzly musks, a touch of sweet praline
Viva La Juicy:
  • Top Note: Wild Berries and, Mandarin orange
  • Mid Note: Honeysuckle, gardenia and Jasmine Base
  • Base Note: Amber, caramel, vanilla, sandalwood and praline

Victoria's Secret fragrance in "Noir Tease"
As you can see below, many off the notes in this fragrance are very similar to the ones in Viva La Juicy. This is $25 for 8.4 oz, versus $70 for 1.7 oz of Viva La Juicy.  I say that's a steal!

Victoria's Secret fragrance in "Noir Tease":
  • Top Notes: Mandarin, lychee, frozen pear, red delicious apple
  • Mid Notes: Sweet pea, jasmine, gardenia, freesia, magnolia
  • Base Notes: Benzoin laos, vanilla, musk, praline, amber, sandalwood
Viva La Juicy:
  • Top Note: Wild Berries and, Mandarin orange
  • Mid Note: Honeysuckle, gardenia and Jasmine Base
  • Base Note: Amber, caramel, vanilla, sandalwood and praline
Another great Victoria's Secret fragrance that has similar notes is  "Pure Seduction."

Taylor Swift Grammys 2014 Makeup Look!

Taylor Swift fans know that for this year's Grammys, Taylor Swift sported an eye look a different than what we've seen in the past! And can we just a take a minute for her dress? It was gorgeous! Back in regards to her makeup, her makeup was fresh and smokey at the same time while adding pops of subtle color! The center of her look was, in my opinion, definitely her eyes! She wore a smokey navy-grey eye look with cobalt blue eyeliner! Then she kept the rest of her makeup very natural looking. This look really brought out the blue in her eyes so this look is perfect for those wanting their blue eyes to pop!

My take on her eye look also includes colors that are in the famous Urban Decay Naked and Naked 2 palettes, making it easier for more people to recreate. Read on to see my take on her look!

Face:

  • Medium Coverage Foundation: To get Taylor Swift's flawless face, apply a medium coverage foundation. Go for a medium coverage rather than full coverage since her face did not look like it was caked on with makeup.
  • Light Pink Blush: Apply a light pink blush to the apples of your cheeks for a nice light flush. The light pink will balance out the dramatic eye look.
  • Light Luminizer: To get her glow, apply an luminizer to the top of your cheek bones.

Eyes:

  • White Base: Start of the eye look with a white base or primer. This will help the eyeshadows pop more!
  • Champagne-Silver Eyeshadow: Apply all over the lids to the crease.
  • Dark Navy-Grey Eyeshadow: Taking a fluffy blending brush, apply the eyeshadow to your crease. Apply a little at a time and slowly build it up and blend out so that there are no harsh lines. Taking a pencil brush, apply more of the color on your bottom lash line.
  • Matte Nude Eyeshadow: Apply on your brow bone as a highlight and blend it into the crease color to further help with harsh lines.

  • White Eyeliner: Apply the white eyeliner to two places: your tear duct area and the waterline. Applying it in the tear duct area will help make the white eyeshadow later pop more. Taylor Swift had white eyeliner on her waterline to give the illusion of bigger eyes.
  • White Shimmery/Glitter Eyeshadow: Apply just to the tear duct area, bringing it into the inner bottom lash line a little to really make your eyes pop.
  • Cobalt Blue Liquid Eyeliner: This is definitely the highlight of her look! Apply a blue liquid eyeliner to the upper lash line, making a thin wing at the end. The blue eyeliner and eyeshadow made her blue eyes pop!
  • Black Mascara: Apply black mascara to the upper and bottom lashes to finish off the eye look!

Lips:
To finish off the look, apply a nude-pink lipstick, such as L'Oreal's Color Riche Lipstick in "Mauved 140". A nice nude pink lipstick balances off the more dramatic eyes!

NYC Smooth Skin "Sunny" Bronzer: A Review + Swatches!

For the longest time, I have been on the hunt for a bronzer without a hefty price tag. Drugstore bronzers don't usually get as much hype as higher-end bronzers, however, one bronzer that has been getting a bit of attention in the beauty world is the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder in "Sunny." I have heard about this bronzer for a while, however, I never bothered to pick it up. Having graduated from high school and in college, I never wore that much face makeup and a bronzer didn't really seem like a necessity. Recently however, I picked this bronzer up at Target and it didn't take long for me to join the cult behind this product!

I bought this bronzer at Target initially not being 100% sure on whether or not I wanted to purchase it and wasn't sure if I actually needed a new bronzer. However, when I saw the price for this product, I was immediately sold. This product at Target was less than $3 ($2.99 to be exact) and with all the hype around the product, I thought this was defiantly a deal!

Pigmentation and Quality: This is a matte bronzer with fairly good pigmentation. It is pigmented enough so that you don't have to cake it on however it isn't overly pigmented so you don't have to be too careful. If you want to build up the product, it is very to build on without looking cakey. This bronzer is easy to apply and does apply smoothly, making it easier to apply and blend. It also suits many skin tones.

Uses: This bronzer also being matte makes it perfect for both contouring and overall bronzing. I apply this bronzer to the hollows of my cheeks, temples, sides of my face, and down the jawline. The bronzer being matte also gives you a nice glow without worrying about being overly shimmery. This bronzer also lives up to it's name as being "smooth."

Packaging: In terms of packaging, the compact is not bulky, making it easy to travel with. It also comes with a built-in mirror which surprised me, considering the price and most drugstore products don't come with mirrors. This product also came with a sponge applicator, however, I'm honestly not a huge fan of it, especially for applying bronzer. I think that the best way to apply bronzer for a natural look is a makeup brush.

Downsides: I have to say that I do think that this a good bronzer, without being too orange or muddy and without the worry of making you look like an umpa-lumpa. However, I did find that this bronzer was the tiniest bit on the orange side, however, it's nothing to worry about and shouldn't really be a game changer. That would probably be my only (small) complaint about this product.

Overview:
Pros:
   - Good pigmentation
   - Smooth and easy to apply and blend
   - Very affordable
   - Slick packaging and built in mirror
   - Matte and natural looking

Cons:
   - Just slightly a bit orange

Price: $2.99 (Target)

Overall Rating: 8 out of 10

Get the Style: Emma Watson's Winter Street Style!

I absolutely love Emma Watson's street style! Emma Watson is seen wearing very simple and basic pieces, and is able to make these simple pieces into a chic outfit! She will also occasionally be seen in more trendy pieces, such as the classic cape. She is also usually seen wearing a lot of naturals and greys and blacks, especially in the winter. Read on to see my take on her outfits!

CapeShirtBootsJeans
I absolutely love this first outfit! This outfit is a fairly simple yet still a very chic and classic. For the top, pair a classic white oxford shirt with a black classic cape, putting the collar of the shirt over the cape. Next, pair a pair of black jeans with the outfit to match the cape. Finish up the look with a pair of black riding boots to complete the chic outfit!

Jacket, Tank, Sunglasses, Jeans, Bag, Boots
This second outfit is a casual outfit that's perfect for a day out with friends or for a casual date. Emma Watson pairs a brown leather jacket with a white lace detailed tank, which I think is the perfect way to make a leather jacket look more delicate. She is also wearing a pair of washed out black skinny jeans with short black "moto" boots with straps, which bring a little edgy-ness to the outfit. Finish the outfit that two chic pieces: tortoiseshell sunglasses and a classic black satchel.

CardiganTeeBootsJeansScarfBag
This last outfit is another casual outfit that pairs simple, basic pieces into the perfect everyday outfit. First pair a black long open cardigan with a white tee. Next, Emma Watson was wearing a pair of black skinny jeans and grey fringe scarf. For a little pop of color, pair a pair of short brown booties with the outfit. Finish the outfit is an edgy black studded satchel.

Common "White Girl" Tag?!?

First, I would just like to say that the reason why I'm doing the tag is because I think that (most of) the questions would be fun to answer, not because this is a "white girl tag" I'm not going to do much of an intro to this post because I feel like most of my feelings about this tag are pretty much the same as Ayydubs and Arose186. Anyways, read on to see my answers to this tag!

Questions:
1. Favorite Starbucks drink? So I have both a favorite summer and winter drink. My favorite summer drink is the "Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher with Lemonade" (the lemonade really makes it and I totally recommend it!) and my favorite winter drink/year long drink is a Chai Latte.
2. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? About 1 hour. Before you guys judge, please let me defend myself. This includes cleaning up, getting dressed, putting on makeup, and eating breakfast. One hour may still seem like a long time, but I don't like rushing in the morning, so I like to take my time.
3. How many selfies do you take on a daily basis? Unless you include snapchat, I don't really take selfies (unless I'm weirdly happy with how I'm looking that day or am super bored).
4. How many IG followers and pics do you have? Don't have an instagram, but if I did, something tells me that I would have a lot pictures since I love taking pictures whenever I have the chance.
5. Do you ever say "LOL" or "OMG" out loud? No, I don't say these things out loud, even in texts. With texting, I'm the "haha" kind.
6. Do you wear the same clothing item more than once? Yes! I won't buy a clothing item unless I love it (I'm a little picky) so I don't mind wearing clothing items multiple times. I'm also in college, so I don't go shopping enough to not wear something more than once.
7. Are you racist? No. Do I have to extend on this question?
8. How many tweets do you have? I think I have like 32 tweets? Not that many, I know, mainly because I don't usually tweet much and usually just retweet my favorite tweets. Follow me though @Lilacs1 (I follow back!)
9. Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr? Since I don't have an Instagram or use Twitter that often, it would for sure have to be Tumblr. I go on Tumblr pretty often when I have time. Check it out here!
10. What do you spend most of your time doing? Not sure why this is a "common white girl" question but probably either doing homework (during the school year) or on the internet (YouTube, Tumblr, Facebook, or watching tv).
11. Who are your favorite youtubers? Oh gosh, where do I start. You can check out my favorite beauty gurus (here) or vloggers (here), but just to list off a few...Jacksgap, Our2ndlife, Missglamorazzi, Arose186, Connorfranta, Pointlessblog, Sparkliebarbiexo, JimChapmen, and I can go on, but I'll stop there. As you can tell, I spend way too much time on the internet.
12. How often do you do your nails? I don't paint them that often..although I love looking at and buying nail polish.
13. Are you a shopaholic? I don't think that I'm quite the shopaholic since I won't buy something unless I love it see myself wearing it a ton, but I do go eye-shopping a TON, whether it's in the mall or online.
14. How many times have you watched Mean Girls? Way too many times.
15. Do you own a lot of clothes? Since I am a bit of a picky shopper, I don't own a ton of clothing, but I probably do own a little more than I actually need.
16. Do you take pictures of your food before you eat it? I don't take pictures that I necessarily eat at like restaurants, but it I cook something on my own, I will definitely take a photo of it!
17. Do you wear makeup everyday? Yes. I mainly do because I weirdly find putting on makeup relaxing, but I also don't really like going out with my horrible under-eye circles.
18. What are your average grades in school? I was an A-B student in high school.
19. How do you usually style your hair? Whatever it looks like whenever I roll out of bed plus come hair brushing. I don't spend that much time on my hair haha.
20. Do you always look presentable? I am someone who likes to look presentable as much as possible, however, despite some effort, doesn't mean that I actually look presentable. There are those days (most days) though where it isn't just working.

After doing this tag, I am seriously wondering who made up this tag...
I tag all of you, whether or not you are a "common white girl" (whatever that means haha).
Answer any of the questions in the comment section! I would love to read your answers!

Jessica Alba's Peoples Choice Awards 2014 Makeup Tutorial!

Yesterday was the People Choice Awards, and with award shows comes red carpet looks! One makeup look that I especially liked was Jessica Alba's. Her skin was flawless yet very simple, along with the rest of her makeup. Although she is wearing a smokey eye, the eye makeup actually doesn't seem like it involves many colors and is actually quiet simple. Read on to see my take on her look!

  • Illuminating Foundation: Apply with a makeup sponge or dense brush for a more natural finish.
  • Powder: Dust lightly on the t-zone to set the foundation and to keep your face from getting oily throughout the day.
  • Illuminating Concealer: Brighten up the eye area with an illuminating concealer. If you want to highlight your face more, apply the concealer to the tops of your cheek bones and down the bridge of your nose to highlight.
  • Rosy Bronzer: Jessica Alba isn't wearing too much on her cheeks so finish off the face look with a rosy bronzer on the apples of your cheeks (this will double as a blush and bronzer, which cuts back on products!).

  • Shimmery Champagne Eyeshadow: Apply all over the lid and a little in the inner corner.
  • Next, before applying the crease color, take a small piece of tape and place on the outer corner of the eye with the edge of the tape following the direction of your bottom lash line (this will help create a clean line on the outer corner later).
  • Dark Brown Matte Eyeshadow: Using a blending brush, apply to the crease all the way to the inner corner of the eye (with more product focused on the outer corner and little bit focused on the inner corner). Blend a little in the outer corner as well into the champagne color.
  • Carefully remove the tape next and you will see that you will have a clean line on the outer part of the eye makeup.
  • Matte Flesh-Toned Eyeshadow: Apply to your brow bone as a highlight!

  • Black Liquid Eyeliner: Apply a thin line of eyeliner to the upper lash line. Apply the eyeliner thicker on the outer corner and as you get closer to the inner corner, make the line thinner. End the eyeliner a third of a way from the inner corner.
  • Flirty False Eyelashes: To get a more accurate eye look, take a pair of long eye lashes that are thicker on the outer corner and using eyelash glue, apply to the upper lash line.
  • Black Mascara: To blend the false eyelashes and your real lashes together, apply a black mascara to the upper lashes. Also apply lightly bottom lashes.

To get Jessica Alba's nude pink lip color, apply a nude pink lipstick with a frosty or glossy finish to finish the look!

My Wishlist #2 | Lip Products

I don't usually splurge on lip products and the only high end lip products that I have tried have either been given to me as gifts or from samples. I will always online "eye shop" for high end lip products on the Sephora website and read reviews on the products, but I could never convince myself to purchase a lipstick for more than $20! Below are products that are on the top of my wishlist until I am able to allow my wallet to hate me for a few minutes.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Color of the Year: Radiant Orchid | 2014

Every year, Pantone has the "color of the year" whom Sephora collaborates with to bring products that in that particular shade. This years color is "Pantone 18-3224 Radiant Orchid", which is a beautiful pink-purple color with a wide range of shades to fit any skin tone! Above are some products that are in the orchid family color range, from high-end products to drugstore products. Read on to read more about the products!

  • Sephora Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick. If you're looking for an accurate orchid color from Pantone, this lipstick is a lipstick that Sephora actually collaborated with Pantone to make, making it the exact color of the year.
  • Butter London Laquer in "Molly Coddled". This color is described as an "opaque lavender orchid" from Sephora. Orchid is a such a pretty color on the nails, especially for the spring and summer time!
  • Marc Jacobs Beauty Plush Shadow "In Punk 104". This palette is a gorgeous palette that includes a champagne color and two colors that are perfect shades that match Pantone's color of the year!
  • Revlon Kissable Lip Balm in "Cherish". "Cherish" is a beautiful lavender, orchid color that is not too scary looking on the lips. You can keep it toned down or build up the look for that light orchid look.
  • Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in "Hoochie". Lip Tars are known for being very pigmented with their bold colors. "Hoochie" is an "extreme magenta" according to Sephora, making it perfect for someone who wants to go bold with the orchid!
  • Marc Jacobs Beauty Blush in "212 Outspoken". This color blush is so pretty and would suit all skin tones! Although orchid may be an intimidating color, however, when applied lightly, it can give you a nice flush of color.
  • Maybelline Eye Studio Eyeshadow "Legendary Lilac". This palette includes four colors that are all super pretty, yet wearable colors for anyone who wants to wear the trend without the high price.
  • Benefit Cosmetics Lollitint: This is the newest of the Benefit lip and cheek tints. It's a pretty orchid, blue toned pink color that gives a nice light flush of color on the cheeks. In addition, because of its blue undertones, it can be used as a lip tint to make your teeth look whiter!
I hope you found this helpful!
