Spring Fashion Trends 2012: Pastel Paradise

One of the trends that I'm really looking forward to this spring is pastels! I love wearing pastels. Pastels are girly and sweet. The thing about pastels is that you can either base your outfit on the trend from head to toe, or just where one item that follows the trend.
Here are some ideas on how to style this trend and some pieces that follow the trend.

Tops:

Bottoms:

AE Skinny Jeans in "Pink Dust." Also comes in lilac.

Accessories:

How to:
  • Wearing white is always a good option when wearing pastels. It adds a clean finish without clashing with the whole outfit.
  • When wearing pastel colored pants, pair it with a pastel top. The pink pants shown would look good with a minty green or pastel blue top!
  • Try cuffing pastel jeans. It can make the biggest difference!
  • Wear neutral colored accessories, like bags and bracelets, when wearing pastels. It just adds that simple pretty touch without clashing. Also keep your makeup natural!
  • Beware of clashing. If you like bold colors, be careful of clashing the pastels with other pieces.
  • If you do like more bolder pieces, try wearing pastel colored pants with a top that is just an amped up pastel, like mint or white colored pants with a bright pink top.
  • Lastly, don't be afraid to try out the pastel trend! It is one of those few trends that it is subtle, but still really cute!

Spring Beauty Trends 2012: Gold!

One of the trends I'm most excited for, aside from t he natural trend, would be the gold trend! Primarily eyeshadow and highlighters.
This is perfect, and can be school appropriate when toned down, but can also be fun and flirty.
Gold looks gorgeous in the sun, with the light reflecting it, so this trend is the perfect trend for spring and into summer. Here are some options for gold make up as well as some tips!

Gold Eyeshadow:
Mac's Honey Lust
Maybelline Color Tattoo in "Bold Gold"
Maybelline's "Chai Latte" Quad- Crease color

Gold Highlighter:
Benefit's "SunBeam"

Here are some ways to use gold in your makeup
  • You could use the gold eyeshadow three ways: 1. All over the lid and into the tear duct area. 2. In the crease with a champagne color all over the lid. Or 3. On the bottom last line to make the eyes appear brighter.
  • Apply a gold highlighter above your cheekbones as well as a little bit on the apples of your cheeks before you put on blush for a cheeky glow.
  • Try mixing a golden highlighter, like benefit's "sunbeam" with your foundation for a nice, subtle, all over the face glow!

St. Patrick's Day: A Tag!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Here is another tag going around Youtube. I get really into these random "holidays"! I was so excited when I saw this going around Youtube!

Questions:
What is your favourite:
1. Shade of green?
2. Green makeup item?
3. Green nail polish?
4. Green eyeshadow/eyeliner?
5. Green makeup packaging?
6. Green item of clothing?
7. Green food and drink?
8. Random green thing you own?
9. Do you wear green on St. Patrick's day?
10.What do you do if you see someone that isn't wearing green on St. Patrick's Day?
11. What was your best St. Patrick's Day?

Answers:
1. Green is my favorite color! I have to say that my favorite shade of green would be the more "earthy" "amazonian" grassy green, though I love mostly all shades of green. Here is the shade I'm talking about:
I also love minty green :).
2. Green Eyeliner! I don't usually wear green eyeliner since it doesn't compliment me well.
Check out my St.Patrick's Day tutorial for more info.
3. Mint green nail polish. Essie's "Mint Candy Apple" and China Glaze's "Refresh mint" are really pretty pastel green colors. Also pistachio green is supposed to really in this spring. I'll probably do I post on this later. I can't say I'm a big fan of green nail polish though :/.
China Glaze "Refresh mint"
4. Like I said in question 2, eyeliner! A dark forest green looks good with those with green eyes.
5. I don't have any green make up packaging...sorry, can't answer this question!
6. I simple green v-neck is one of those staple pieces that you can wear year round. However, I'll probably be wearing a cuter green top on St. Patrick's Day! *side note. Green clothing can really compliment red heads, like this photo:
7. I love pistachios! They are probably my favorite nut. I also love mint oreos as well as sweet mint gum. I also love artichokes. As for green drinks...I don't really drink green drinks, but it would have to be limeade.

8. Random green thing I own... I think that it would be....my fuzzy socks.
9. Yes! I always wear green on St. Patrick's Day :).
10. If I don't know them, I don't really care or mind, but if it's someone I know, then I might pinch them...
11. Probably just St. Patrick's Day when I was little in general. We used to make traps and what not, and look for the "leprechaun" that left prizes for us.

Thank you for reading! I tag ALL of you!
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Pot of Gold: A St. Patricks Day make up tutorial

No one can say you're not wearing green with this make up look! This is inspired by leprechauns and pots of gold!

Eyes:
Gold lid will be the the "pot of gold" part of the look. Choose a soft gold color that is slightly shimmery. Gold looks good with any eye color!
Mac's "Honey Lust" Eyeshadow

Green eyeliner will be the pop of green in this makeup look. Just apply it to your upper lash line (try not to smudge). A nice, clean line will add the perfect subtle, yet noticeable pop of color. Try to stay away from the bright greens, because they can clash with the gold eyeshadow. A nice forest green would be perfect!
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil in "Mildew"

Cheeks:
"Nude" Blush: This color, when applied lightly, gives a light natural flush without clashing with the eye look.
Mac's "Peaches" Blush

Highlighter:
A nice pearl highlighter: Benefit's "HighBeam" Highlighter is a subtle highlight, giving you that bit of glow!
Lips:
Nude-pink lip: Try something more natural that won't take away from the eyes.
Revlon Lip Butter in "Peach Parfait"

Thank you for reading and have a great St. Patricks day!

7 Deadly Sins of Beauty: A Tag

This tag was going around Youtube a while ago. It sounded fun, so I decided to do it :).

Questions:
GREED - What is your most inexpensive beauty product? What is your most expensive?

WRATH - What beauty products do you have a love/hate relationship with? What has been hardest to find?

GLUTTONY - What are your most delicious beauty products?

SLOTH - What beauty product do you neglect due to laziness?

PRIDE - What beauty product gives you more confidence?

LUST - What attributes do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

ENVY - What item would you most like to receive as a gift?

Answers:
GREED: My most inexpensive product would probably be Covergirl's Blush in "Natural Rose." I think it was around $4-5. My most expensive product is not something ridiculously expensive, but it would probably a MAC eyeshadow, around $14-15.

WRATH: I would have to say mascara. Some days, I can make my lashes look good, but other days, my eyelashes can be stupid and mascara just doesn't help.

GLUTTONY: I would have to say my Stila Lip Glazes, considering they all smell sweet and good.

SLOTH: Products that I neglect due to laziness would probably either be eyeshadow and/or blush. In the mornings, I want to sleep as much as I can, so sometimes I just skip those products.

PRIDE: Beauty products that give me the most confidence would probably be concealer and mascara. I honestly can't choose one or the other, because it does depend on the day, but those products are what really brighten my eyes and make me look more awake, despite lack of sleep I get. Also curling my lashes.

LUST: This question isn't really beauty related, but I think it's just supposed to be fun. From what I have seen from the videos, people were mainly talking physically. I don't meant to be shallow, but I'm a sucker for biceps and abs and tall guys(I hope that doens't sound too shallow! I promise I'm not!) I'm also a major sucker for a nice smile. Nice smiles are really nice. And when guys wear jeans. And when they're funny or do something cute when they think no one's looking. Ok, I'll stop. :)

ENVY: Probably either the Urban Decay Naked Palette or the Viva La Juicy Perfume. They are both on the pricer side unfortunately.

Hope this was somewhat fun/interesting.
I tag ALL of you!
Thanks :)

(Side note: Don't you love how my "Lust" answer was the longest)

1 Dress. 2 Completly Different Outfits.

Chiffon is one of those materials where you can dress down but easily dress up.

Here's a dress from Nordstrom BP. It's the perfect length and tight around the waist for a feminine touch.

Here are a few ways to dress it up or down!

Casual:

Nordstrom BP
Add some brass and rope bracelets to tone down the dress a bit.

Nordstrom BP
A gray sweater will tone the dress a bit.

Target Flats in "Blush"
A pair or nude flats just completes the whole outfit, giving it an effortless look.

Formal:
Forever 21
A Flowy white cardigan adds a nice touch to dressing an outfit up a bit.

If you want to go for a more fitting and professional look, go a for a neutral colored blazer that's form fitting.

Go with a pretty beaded necklace. The one shown can go with either the white sweater or the blazer and nude heels.

A bright necklace can make the outfit fun for those who like to go more out there if it's with the either the white sweater or the blazer and nude heels.

A nude pair of heels would not clash with the dress.

I hope this was helpful!
